The Romanian work permit represents the official document for a foreign citizen in order to work in Romania.

The work permit is issued on employer request by the Romanian Office for Immigrants, within 30 days from the date of request, to all foreigners meeting the provisions of the Romanian legislation on foreigners’ regime, employment and employees secondment to employers in Romania.

The Romanian Work Permit can be obtained by submitting the following documents by any person representing the employer under the provisions of the law :

• the authorisation to function as a company
• Certificate of Registration with the Companies Register
• an application, together with other documents proving the need to employ the foreign national
• latest statement of accounts
• proof of the current contribution to the state budget
• proof of the current payment to the social insurance budget
• proof of the current contribution to the unemployment fund

From the applicant (foreign citizen):

• the applicant's identification document with a valid Work Permit
• graduation or qualification certificates
• Medical Examination Certificate issued in Romania
• criminal record issued in the country of permanent residence, for persons applying for managerial, financial or accountancy positions
• authorisation or certificate in the case of professions or activities for which Romanian law demands authorisation or certification
• copy of the passport
• two passport type photographs (3.5 cm X 3.0 cm)
